Thank you Lord!

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. (Psalm 100:4)

Dear Father God,

I want to thank you for this new day.  This new opportunity to serve you and know you.  Thank you for refreshing my mercy bank every morning I wake up.  I’m so blessed to be serving the Living God, who sent His Son to die for me.

Lord, thank you for my strong, god-fearing, and hard-working husband.  His love truly amazes me.  I’m blessed to be his wife and take this journey through life with him.

Good Enough

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise, give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. (Psalm 100:4-5)

Today I was taking a test that I have taken many times, but God showed me something new.  Have you ever had that happen?  It’s happened to me many times!  I’m so glad God can find new ways to speak to us even through the mundane things we have to do in life.  The test included some loud noises that made me think of the above verse.  In this world, we have to hear many things.

Give Thanks

Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. (1 Chronicles 16:8)

Enter with Thanksgiving

Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. (Psalm 145:3)

Thanksgiving is not something that should happen in just November for Christians.  When we read a verse like the one above we should realize that thanksgiving should take place in our hearts daily.  God’s greatness is too much for us to fathom.  He has done so many wonderful things in our lives and our hearts should wake up each morning ready to offer thanksgiving to Him.  In fact, the next verse shares exactly that with us.

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” (Psalm 100:4)

This verse puts it so clearly.  Enter his gates with thanksgiving.  God calls us to be people who exclaim the glory of His name in everything that we do and say.  Do people know you are thankful for your job?  There are plenty of people out of work right now, so complaining won’t get you very far.  Do people know that you are thankful for your spouse?  Your commitment in marriage is a witness to those around you.  Do people know that you are thankful for your salvation?  You can’t convince anyone that Jesus is good for them, if you don’t show them the joy you have inside of you.  This goes for everything!  Why am I convinced of this?  Here is one verse that shows me all that I have in God!

Thankful Thoughts

You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O Lord my God, I WILL GIVE THANKS FOREVER. (Psalm 30:11-12)

Have you noticed that somehow we’ve skipped Thanksgiving and moved straight to Christmas?  Everywhere you look, there is something to do with Christmas.  There are songs playing at the mall, the decorations are out, and sales are in full swing.  Now please don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas just as much as the next person.  But I don’t want to forget to stop and give thanks for the One who gives me a reason to celebrate.  I want to take time this week to celebrate all that I have to be thankful for.
