Beware of the Great Destroyer

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)

There is nothing subtle about this verse. Jesus exposes the Truth about Satan. The Enemy comes ONLY to steal and kill and destroy us. There it is in plain English. So what do we do? How do we defend ourselves against the Enemy? The first thing we need to do is learn how to recognize our Enemy. We need to take a look at Scripture and find the strategies that Satan uses, so we can fight against them. Let’s take a look at what God’s Word has to say about our Enemy.

1.  He is a Serpent. He comes to steal!

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made.  He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?’ “ (Genesis 3:1)

Satan disguises himself as a serpent in our lives. He slithers in and out of our thoughts with lies that contradict God’s Word. He is sneaky and often strikes when we least expect it. He uses phrases like “what if” and “If only”. Here are some examples from Stormie Omartian’s book “The Power of a Praying Woman”. Read more

Beware of the Enemy

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]. (John 10:10, AMP)

This week I want to encourage you to beware of the Enemy’s plans. He is constantly looking for a way to destroy you and I. We must be grounded in God’s Word. Daily feeding on God’s Truth. We must remember that our fight is not against flesh and blood but against something much bigger.

Emergency Exit Plan

…we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5)

Every time I fly, the flight attendants share what the plan is for an emergency landing.  I know it by heart and I’m sure many of you do too.  I know where the flotation devices are, I know where the exits are, I know the oxygen mask will come down from the ceiling, I know to place it on myself before others, I know the emergency lights will light up on the floor, and I know to put my head in my lap to prepare for the landing.  Well, what would happen if we had an emergency exit plan in place when the Enemy comes to attack?  The fact is I think we would live a much more effective life for Christ, if we had a strategy in place.

Drawing Near

My newest book Victorious Mindset will be coming out this week.  The official release date is April 14th.  To celebrate this new book release, I would like to share a few devotionals from the book.  This book is a 30 day devotional sharing how to have a mind set on Christ and be victorious over the things that we face in life.  The Victorious Living Collection would not be complete without sharing how to have a mind set on Christ.  I continue to enjoy this series of books so much and am so appreciative to God for giving me each book to write.  Thank you God!  I pray that these books will bring You glory and lift the name of Jesus high!

Drawing Near to God

Come near to God and he will come near to you… —James 4:8

Live It Out

This is great news! You see, Satan wants to be a roadblock between you and God. He will say and do whatever it takes to keep you from having a vibrant relationship with the Lord. This is why you have to resist Satan. Make him flee so you can draw near to God. God wants to be as near to you as possible. Will you draw near to Him? It’s a direct path. You don’t have to cut any corners. It’s not a maze you have to find your way through. God wants you to just come near and He will be right there to come near to you.

Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.—James 4:8

God desires our submission, He wants us to resist the devil so we can draw near to Him. Then comes this part of scripture that reminds us we struggle daily with sin. We can never take sin lightly. We must stay on guard and wash our hands of the sin that creeps into our lives. We must purify our hearts before the Lord daily. God doesn’t want us to say we desire to live for Him then turn around and live for the world. He wants all or nothing. Choose to give Him your all today!

Let us then approach the throne of grace with con- fidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.—Hebrews 4:16

Pray It Through

Dear Father God, I submit my life to You. I continue to resist the devil and all his schemes. May I draw near to You daily and enjoy the nearness of You in my life. Please help me to see if there is anything unclean in my heart and help me to purify myself before You. Thank You that I can approach Your throne of grace with confidence and experience the full measure of Your mercy on a daily basis!

We are not only to renounce evil, but to manifest the truth. We tell people the world is vain; let our lives manifest that it is so. We tell them that our home is above and that all these things are transitory. Does our dwelling look like it? O to live consistent lives!—James Hudson Taylor

Satan’s Playbook

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you… (James 4:7-8)

Let’s take a look at Satan’s playbook.  Let’s get a closer look at the tactics he uses in our lives.

Recently, there has been an email circulating with an image of Satan addressing a worldwide convention of demons.  There are basically 12 tactics that he gives to the demons.  He explains that the demons will have victory over Christians, if they can simply get Christians to do the following 12 things.

1.  Keep them busy with nonessentials.

2.  Tempt them to spend, spend, spend.  Encourage their debt!

3.  Get them to work long hours to maintain their empty lifestyles.

4.  Discourage them from spending family time, for when homes disintegrate there’s no refuge from work.
