Promise of Peace

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.  I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)

Peace!  This is one of the sweetest promises found in God’s Word.  We live in chaos at times.  The world around us is falling apart but God is still on the throne and because of that we have a promise of peace.  He brought that peace to us through Jesus Christ, His Son.  I love the tshirt that says, “Know Jesus, Know Peace”.  There is no peace without Jesus.  A life void of Jesus equals a life of chaos!  We know peace because we know Jesus.  It’s really that simple!

The Only Answer

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. (2 Corinthians 4:9)

I know that Christmas is a great time of year for most of us, but I don’t neglect to think about those who are going through a rough patch during this Christmas season.  My prayers are with you, as you face your trials.  May you be strengthened through the following words, knowing that Jesus is the answer!  He will see you through even your most difficult times!

I Stand Forgiven

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:11-12

As I celebrate my birthday, I think of how much God has done in my life and how much I’ve been forgiven for.  I’m blessed to be a child of God, living for a Kingdom purpose, with Jesus Christ as my fixed point of reference, and the Holy Spirit as my constant guide.  Yesterday, I turned 36 years old.  I celebrate the many years that God has given me knowing Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior.  Truly nothing in life has ever compared to this!  So as I sat and reflected on these thoughts I wrote the following devotional.  I hope you enjoy it!

Is it Worth My Testimony

But in your hearts set Christ apart as holy [and acknowledge Him] as Lord. Always be ready to give a logical defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope that is in you, but do it courteously and respectfully. (1 Peter 3:15, AMP)

Last week, I was given an opportunity to put my words in to practice, as Satan came charging in to ruin my day.  I had spent most of the day promoting the book signing that will be held tomorrow.  You see that’s not really my favorite thing to do.  The marketing part of writing does not come easy for me.   I love the writing part.  I love being a part of watching lives change by the power of God’s Word.  I love to encourage people.  But the marketing and selling of myself, yikes… that’s just not me!  But I have told myself if I ever made it to LifeWay I would put all my energy in to really promoting the book signing.  So I’ve promoted it everywhere.

We Believe

Now after the Sabbath, near dawn of the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary went to take a look at the tomb.

And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled the boulder back and sat upon it.

His appearance was like lightning, and his garments as white as snow.

And those keeping guard were so frightened at the sight of him that they were agitated and they trembled and became like dead men.

But the angel said to the women, Do not be alarmed and frightened, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, Who was crucified.

He is not here; He has risen, as He said [He would do]. Come, see the place where He lay.

~Matthew 28:1-6 (AMP)
