Bow Now or Bow Later

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. (Revelation 22:13

I pray that 2014 will be a year you find out who Jesus is for you.  For those of you who know the Lord, I pray you will gain a fresh perspective of God’s Word.  I pray that you will see how much God loves you and the mercy He so readily pours out on your life.  I pray that you will be renewed and strengthened for every step ahead.  I pray that you will find joy in every circumstance this year and that you will find reason to celebrate who God is every day.  I pray that you will come alive in a new way and with a new awareness of God’s rich blessings on your life.

The Powerful Name of Jesus

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God [that is, His remarkable, overwhelming gift of grace to believers] is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23, AMP)

Have you noticed that the name of Jesus isn’t used as much as the name of God?  I find in many conversations that I talk a lot about God and I hear a lot about Him.  But the mention of Jesus is rare.  Oh sure, I hear about Him and talk about Him during Easter and Christmas.  Who doesn’t?  But that name, that name that will cause every knee to bow… isn’t always on the tip of my tongue!  Why is that?

Honestly, I think that Satan is trying to silence us because he knows the power that exists in the name of Jesus.  He sees that power and it terrifies him.

Sometimes we see people cower from the name of Jesus, people disengage from conversation when we use His name, some people simply walk away, and still others are harsh when we talk about Jesus.  The name of Jesus stirs up controversy.  Have you seen it? I certainly have.

God’s Gift to Me

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:33-34)

Seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness, then things will happen accordingly.  All the time we seem to take our eyes off of God and put them on things of this world.  We take different directions and wonder why God isn’t there to lead us out.  In the meantime, if we choose to seek Him first and find out His direction for our lives… we will not end up in the wrong direction or down the dead end streets. Unwrap A Gift

We love because he first loved us. (John 4:19)

Yesterday I celebrated my one year anniversary with my husband.  I still can’t believe we have been married one year!  God has been so good to me.  It makes me think back to when I wrote my vows for our wedding day.  I remember thinking love is a choice.  Yes, I felt in love with Paul.  I loved him with all my heart, but I knew there would be days where we wouldn’t see eye to eye on things, so I wanted my vows to reflect what Jesus would want from me in my marriage.  I am able to love because God first loved me.  Is this not one of the greatest gifts we have in life?  I have the freedom to love my husband because God has decided to love me first.  He has shown His love through His faithfulness in every story throughout the Bible, but most of all through the birth, life, death, and resurrection of His Son.

Now I have the choice, the opportunity to love my husband!  Wow!  So this takes me back to a moment on Clearwater Beach where I said some very important vows to my husband that I meant with my entire heart.  Here is just a small portion of those vows…

A Workmanship in Progress

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith– and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:8-10)

BY GRACE:

We have the privilege to be saved.  What an amazing thing!  God’s grace extends to every corner of the earth to each person and covers over a multitude of sins through His grace, which comes through His Son’s blood shed on the cross.  It’s so hard to comprehend this AMAZING GRACE, that God so freely gives and never asks for anything in return.
