All Your Heart

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:23-24)

There are no excuses for giving less than your best to anything you do in life.  The Lord has commissioned us to do everything with all our heart, never lacking in zeal.  I have seen some examples of this in the last few days (in 2009). Read more

Quality vs. Quantity

One of the most important things to remember when getting to know God is the quality of your time with Him.  The best place to get to know God is in His Word.

John MacArthur puts it this way, “The Bible is the only completely trustworthy source of knowledge about God.  Man can’t learn all he needs to know about God from human reason, philosophy, or even experience.  God alone is the source of the knowledge about Himself, and He has chosen to reveal Himself in the Bible and in no other book.”

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.

Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. (Romans 12:1-2, MSG)

Heavenly Mindset

Therefore if you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. (Colossians 3:1, AMP)

Lately, God is reminding me to be focused on things that are eternal.  This stuff down here on earth is really just a glimpse of what is to come.  I can’t get my heart and mind entangled in things that don’t last forever.  God has called me to set my heart and mind on Him.
