Time to Simplify

This [day in which God has saved me] is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24, AMP)

The Lord has really impressed on my heart to simplify some things. So I’ve been taking a step back and looking at ways I can simplify. I find that joy is often squashed and even snuffed out when life gets too busy. Sometimes it becomes an art form to say how busy we are.

However, in God’s Word I see over and over again that it was those who lived simply who experienced the greatest joy. The ones who didn’t get too busy to wait on the Lord. Busyness can be such a tool of the enemy sometimes distracting us from what is best by laying good things at our feet.

Thrive

We may thrive on the Bread of Life, or starve on the crumbs of this world. (Anonymous)

The Bread of Life

Do you know that Jesus is the source of life?  He is the sustainer of your well-being.  He has provided all that you need to enjoy a relationship with God.  He came to be the Bread of Life, the Living Water for your soul, and the Light that shines in your darkness.  He can and will nourish you, He will quench your thirsty soul, and He will light your path.  Let’s see how He does this!

1.  Bread of Life

If you take time to read John 6, you will find the context for this verse.  Jesus had just finished feeding the 5,000 with five small barley loaves and two small fish.  Jesus performed a splendid miracle right before their eyes, but they missed the relevance of it.  They were happy to be satisfied by the food and thankful that the Lord provided it.  But they missed the meaning of it.  Later, they came to Jesus for more.  They wanted more of what the Lord had to offer.  Jesus told them quite simply that the food of this world will spoil, but the food that He gives will endure forever.  Jesus is the sustenance of your life.  He wants to fill you up with the Word of God, so that you may feast on all that is good and righteous.  Have you gotten your fill of God’s Word today?  Are you nourished by the Bread of Life?  Have you tasted and seen that the Lord is good?  “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.”  ~Psalm 34:8

Then Jesus declared, “I am the Bread of Life.  He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”  ~John 6:35
