Beware of the Great Destroyer

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)

There is nothing subtle about this verse. Jesus exposes the Truth about Satan. The Enemy comes ONLY to steal and kill and destroy us. There it is in plain English. So what do we do? How do we defend ourselves against the Enemy? The first thing we need to do is learn how to recognize our Enemy. We need to take a look at Scripture and find the strategies that Satan uses, so we can fight against them. Let’s take a look at what God’s Word has to say about our Enemy.

1.  He is a Serpent. He comes to steal!

Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made.  He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?’ “ (Genesis 3:1)

Satan disguises himself as a serpent in our lives. He slithers in and out of our thoughts with lies that contradict God’s Word. He is sneaky and often strikes when we least expect it. He uses phrases like “what if” and “If only”. Here are some examples from Stormie Omartian’s book “The Power of a Praying Woman”. Read more

Read Proverbs 18 today!

I want to take time this week to explore the power of the tongue!  Solomon mentions the power of our words about 150 times in the Proverbs.  The wisest man who ever lived knew the power of words.  He gave us instructions on how to promote life and avoid evil with our tongues.  Let’s take a look a few words of wisdom and apply them to our week!

What does it look like when a wise man or woman speaks?  And how can we become that wise person with our words?

1.  A wise man or woman gives a reason for the hope within them when they talk to others.

“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.  Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect.”  (1 Peter 3:15)

Indescribable Love

Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep. O LORD, you preserve both man and beast.

How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house; you give them drink from your river of delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.” (Psalm 36:5-9)

GOD’S LOVE

~It reaches to the heavens! It knows no limits.  We cannot reach up and touch the sky.  Sure we can get on an airplane and fly through the sky,  but even then we’re never able to touch the edge of the sky.  Astronauts go into space to see more of the marvelous creation God has created.  They see the earth from afar and study the galaxy, but yet they do not touch the edge of space.  Are you beginning to grasp God’s indescribable love yet?  David said that God’s love reaches to the heavens.  We cannot even begin to grasp how deep, how wide, and how much God loves us!  He gives us terms that are beyond our comprehension because He wants to make a point, His love will always be greater than our mind can comprehend.

Number One Book

I’m still in the mood to celebrate the number one and it’s meaning in my life.  I am now 6 days from my one year anniversary with my husband.  It’s amazing to think how quickly a year can pass.  God has been so very good to us!

Another thing that certainly has consistently remained number one in my life is the book I like to study, even in this last year!  This last year, I have taken time to study books on marriage, books on my relationship with God, books on my writing skills, books for the writing I want to do, even books for fun.  I have read all sorts of books, but nothing comes close to the BIBLE.  The Bible still is the number one book in my life that I enjoy studying.  The words jump of the page at me and I can’t wait to read it. It’s always so inviting and invigorating with stories that pursue my heart with God’s grace.  It’s amazing how timeless it can be and how it’s words can penetrate my soul.
