God Jesus Service Gospel

Serving My Lord

Now while they were on their way, it occurred that Jesus entered a certain village, and a woman named Martha received and welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister named Mary, who seated herself at the Lord’s feet and was listening to His teaching.

But Martha [overly occupied and too busy] was distracted with much serving; and she came up to Him and said, Lord, is it nothing to You that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me [to lend a hand and do her part along with me]! But the Lord replied to her by saying, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things; There is need of only one or but a few things. Mary has chosen the good portion [that which is to her advantage], which shall not be taken away from her.  (Luke 10:38-42, AMP)

Lord, please help me balance my Martha and Mary tendencies.  I pray that I will spend more time waiting at Your feet, resting in Your presence, and seeking Your guidance.

“…to be occupied with Christ is more important than to be occupied for Christ.  To devote oneself to the Word of Christ, so as to be taught by him, is more important than to be busy for him.”  ~J. Dwight Pentecost, The Words and Works of Jesus Christ

Lord, I want to spend my time more occupied in Your presence.  I want to find myself sitting before You and gleaning from Your Word.  I want more of You in my life.  Lord, today I pray that I will be more occupied with You than for You.  May I spend more time waiting and less time moving.  May I spend more time listening and less time talking.  May I spend more time trusting and less time worrying.  May I live to serve You today!
