Gods Love Forgiveness Psalm Jesus

River of Love ~ Psalm 119 Part 8

May your unfailing love come to me, O LORD, your salvation according to your promise; then I will answer the one who taunts me, for I trust in your word.Do not snatch the word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. I will always obey your law, for ever and ever. I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, for I delight in your commands because I love them. I lift up my hands to your commands, which I love, and I meditate on your decrees. (Psalm 119:41-48)

I started a series on Psalm 119 in February and wanted to continue it once in a while.  Today I have decided to continue with the next part of the passage of scripture.  I pray God’s Word continues to touch your heart like it touches mine.  The Word of God is like a river.  You can attempt to step in the river at the same place twice, but since the water is always moving the place will never be the same.  The Word of God is like a river in that you can continue to go back to the Truth, it will faithfully be there.  God’s Truth will remain through all the years.  The Word will not change, God will not change, but when you read it…the Word will change you!  You may read the same passage every day for 30 days, but God could possibly show you something new in it every day.  God will reach beyond your expectations.  He is that big!

This passage of Psalm 119 describes God’s love and how it reaches into our lives.  Within the first verse of this passage we hear of God’s unfailing love.  In the Hebrew, love is hesed which means “steadfast love”.  God’s steadfast love comes to us through Jesus Christ and we see it in four ways through this passage of scripture.

God’s LOVE:

1.  God’s love is freely given!

God’s love is given freely through His Son and through His Son this love becomes personal.  God’s love is true and steady!  It is like a rock, not moving like shifting winds.  He is staying with us no matter what we look like in the morning or how many bad days we have.  His love is personal and free.  No strings attached!

2.  God’s love is a covenant kind of love!

God connects Himself to us for eternity when we accept His Son Jesus.  He lovingly embraces us and never lets go!  He confidently takes us into His home and shares the best of everything He has!  He doesn’t hold anything back, His love is forever!

3.  God’s love is a saving love!

God’s love has saved me from the pit of Hell because of His Son Jesus Christ.  I do not have to worry about death because I know my life continues in eternity.  I have no worries about tomorrow because all my tomorrows are held in the hands of the Creator.  His love saves me from myself, my mistakes, my fumbles, my doubts, my stupidity, and all my worries!  His love continues to make a way for me to humble myself before Him!

4.  God’s love is promised!

God’s love is promised to me because I have accepted His Son as my Savior.  He has promised to love me today, tomorrow, and all of eternity.  He will not let me go, He will not let me down, and He will not ever fail me!  His promises will ALWAYS come through!

God’s love leads us into desiring to walk in His Word.  His love leads us into learning His Word and living by it daily.  His love leads us to a place of conviction, a place where riding the fence no longer is acceptable.  God’s love leads me to want more of the Truth, His Word, the only lasting thing today!  God’s Word will continue to be faithful when all other books and words fade away.  God’s love leads us back to the words that are True!

God’s Word also leads us to be a witness for the Truth that we read and the love that we experience daily!  God’s Word is strong, it doesn’t skip a beat, and it will help us become who we need to be in this world that continues to change right before our eyes.  When we walk into the river, may we walk into the same place ready to be changed, not by the contents of the world, but by the contents of the WORD!  God’s Truth, His love, and His promises!

Dear Father God, I pray that I will recognize the love that You have given us through Your Son.  You continue to be faithful though we continue to go astray.  You continue to follow through on every promise though we continue to walk away.  You continue to love us even when we are unlovable.  I pray that we, Your people, will learn to stand on Your Truth.  May we be people of Your Word, not people of this world.  May we be in love with You and the change that You produce in our lives!

Loving All that You do in me Through Your Truth,
