Quality vs. Quantity
Your word I have treasured and stored in my heart, that I may not sin against You. (Psalm 119:11, AMP)
One of the most important things to remember when getting to know God is the quality of your time with Him. The best place to get to know God is in His Word.
John MacArthur puts it this way, “The Bible is the only completely trustworthy source of knowledge about God. Man can’t learn all he needs to know about God from human reason, philosophy, or even experience. God alone is the source of the knowledge about Himself, and He has chosen to reveal Himself in the Bible and in no other book.”
Every answer that you long to find is in the Word. God wants you to spend time with Him and get to know His heart for you. Come to know all that God has in store for you through His Word! And please remember, that God does not applaud you for how much you read, how much you study, how much you pray, how many scriptures you memorize, or for the number of reading plans you do. All of this is great, but this alone will not help you fully understand the heart of God. God wants you to give Him quality time.
Even if all you read is one verse… Learn that verse, meditate on it, memorize it and live it out. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…(Colossians 3:16).” May God’s Word truly come alive to you as you spend time in it. I promise that the best way to get to know God is to read all about Him in His Word. Here are some of the things you will find out about our God…
1. He alone is the Creator.
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” ~Genesis 1:1
2. God is the Designer of life.
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” ~Psalm 139:13-14
3. God is your Refuge.
“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” ~Deuteronomy 33:27
4. God always has a Plan.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” ~Jeremiah 29:11
5. God will finish what He starts.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” ~Romans 8:28
Dear Father God, Thank You for every promise that I have in Your Word. Thank You for writing this beautiful love letter to me, so I can come to know You better. It’s a true privilege to read the Word and learn Your heart for me. Please continue to reveal the importance of quality vs. quantity in my life. May the quality of my study time and time in prayer increase, as my heart continues to draw near to You!
