Strength God Rock Redeemer

Promise of Strength

The bolts of your gates will be iron and bronze, and your strength will equal your days. (Deuteronomy 33:25)

This is one of my absolute favorite Bible verses.  I daily cling to this promise in the Word.  I love that it says my strength will equal my days.  There is a saying that goes around that says, “God will not give you more than you can handle.”  But I’m not really fond of this saying.  Often we have a different view than God on how much we can handle.

I know there have been many times in my life where I thought I was at the end of my rope and surely God wouldn’t give me one more thing to deal with.  But that’s not how God works.  He wants us to use us in our weakest place so we can advance His greatest strength.  He wants us to be in total dependence on Him and rely on His strength to pull us through daily.

I am nothing without my Father.  I’m nothing without Jesus, my Savior.  I don’t have enough strength for even the smallest burden I face in a day.  But God has enough strength for every big storm that hits my life.  In fact He says,

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”  (2 Corinthians 12:9)

It’s God’s grace that provides enough strength for me for each step ahead.  It’s His power being made perfect in me that sustains me through my greatest weaknesses.  God’s strength is what I depend on.  My strength fails me daily.  But God never fails me.

“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”  (1 Peter 5:10)

There will be moments of suffering in life.  That’s a guarantee in a fallen world.  We can count on the fact that some days will be rough.  Some months will be long and some years will be exhausting.  But through it all God will continue His marvelous work.  He will restore you and make you strong.  He will make you firm and steadfast by His love.  You can’t count on anything or anyone like you can count on God.  He will be your strength.  He will carry you when you are too weak to walk and He will lift you up on eagle’s wings when the only thing you can muster enough strength to do is rest.  Come rest in the Father’s arms and experience the strength that only He can give.

“but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)

Dear Father God, I have had many moments of weakness in this last year.  I have had days where I didn’t know if I could take another step.  But just when I thought I had run out of options, run out of strength, and run out of determination to keep moving.  You came through!  In the ways that only You can.  Thank you for being my strength!  Thank you for giving me so many promises in Your Word about the strength that is mine through Jesus Christ!

Lovingly Yours Lord,
