Love God Devotional Jesus

Ooze with God’s Love

Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one [the only God]!  You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and with all your soul and with all your strength [your entire being]. (Deuteronomy 6:4-5, AMP)

I want to take 30 days to study what it means to “Love God with all my heart, soul, and strength”.  I want to find out where my life is honoring God in this command and where I’m lacking.  By the end of 30 days, I want to have a greater love for God.  I want to truly understand the sacrifice His Son made on my behalf and appreciate it.

Do you know that this commandment is mentioned three times in the Gospels?  Jesus refers to it as the first and greatest commandment.  So if this is the first and greatest commandment, shouldn’t we live by it?  What would happen if we loved God with all our heart, soul, and strength?  Do you know anyone whose life currently looks like this?  If you do, spend time with that person.  Learn how they have come to love the Lord with all their heart, soul and strength.  Glean from those who have that sweet spirit that oozes over with God’s love.
Honestly, it’s not humanly possible to love God with everything in me 24 hours a day.  I’m weak.  My flesh cries out fairly often, but I’m learning to silence it.  I’m learning to wait on the Lord and find out what it truly means to love Him with everything that’s in me.  I’m learning that this commandment is vital for my life and when I live by this Truth it changes everything!

During this study, I will be sharing some stories of heroes in the Bible who loved the Lord.  We can look at their lives and find out what it looks like to truly love the Lord?  We will look at some present day heroes and their love for the Lord.  I invite you to take this journey with me to find out what it means to truly love the Lord.  May we throw off everything that hinders us from fully entering God’s presence!

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” (Hebrews 12:1)

I invite you to come with me on a journey to discover what it means to truly love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and strength.  I look forward to what God will do in and through us, as we come to understand His Word and live it out!

Dear Father God, I come before You and admit that I have not loved You fully.  I have let the distractions of this world keep me from giving You all that I am.  Lord, please use this next 30 days to change me.  I pray that You would transform my heart by the power of Your Word and conform me to the image of Christ.  May I come boldly to the throne of grace and get my cup filled by You!
