Life is crazy but God is in control

Life Can be a Rollercoaster Ride

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] (John 16:33, AMP)

Lately, I’ve been thinking life is kind of like a rollercoaster ride. There’s that moment you get in the ride and hear, “keep your arms and legs inside.” You brace yourself for the wild ride. Your anticipation mounts as you climb to the top of what will be a free fall. Then you dangle a lit bit on top just to give you that final moment of sweet thrill! The thrill gives way to the beautiful free fall. You pick up speed as you head to who knows where. You slowly adjust yourself to the ride, thinking you’ve got this, it’s not so bad. Then comes the loopy da loop. One loop and your good. Then another loop and another. Often leaving you guessing of when your feet will be steady on the ground again.

Yes, there is a little bit of a ride that we go on with the Lord. It can feel crazy, it can bring anxiety, it can make you wonder when it will all calm down. Thankfully, we know the Master of the ride. We know the one who designed it. The one who created it. The one who knows the loops better than anyone. God is the master of this ride. He doesn’t lose track of us and is there during the craziness of it all.

Thankfully, God also knows when we need seasons of rest so He guides the roller coaster back to the shelter. He gives us seasons of rest to recover from the moments of life that take our breath away. And even along the ride there are moments where we can catch a breath, those are the moments we need to embrace. The Father doesn’t let the rollercoaster go off track. He’s there guiding it.

I don’t know where you are at right now. It may be a free fall season for you, or a brace yourself for the ride season, or a loopy da loop season, or maybe you are in the season of rest. Every season has a purpose in God! We can trust Him with the seasons of our lives! We can know that the Master has a plan and He won’t let this rollercoaster get off the track!

Dear Father God, Please help me to appreciate the season that I’m in right now. Lord, may I embrace all that You have for me in this season and never forget that no matter where my life is on this roller coaster ride, You’re in charge of the journey. May I enjoy the ride and trust You with the details!

Enjoying this Season of my Rollercoaster Ride,
