Lead me to Eternity Jesus God

Lead Me

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way of everlasting. (Psalm 139:23-24)

“Search me, O God, and know my heart…”

Are you trying to hide anything from God right now?  It’s so easy to hide from people in our lives, but we can’t ever hide from God.  We certainly try to hide from God, but it’s just not possible.  The first man and woman created taught us how to hide.  We can say it’s in the fabric of our being to hide.

“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.”  ~Genesis 3:8

Adam and Eve had eaten fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; the one tree God had forbidden them to eat from and now they were hiding from Him.  I think we are much like Adam and Eve when our sin is found out.  We run and hide, but God wants us to come to Him.  Will you let God search and know your heart today?

“…test me and know my anxious thoughts…”

God knows your anxious thoughts.  He cares about all the things that cause you to be concerned.  He wants to take your burdens from you, if you will just hand them over.

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”  ~ 1 Peter 5:7

“…See if there is any offensive way in me…”

I think this is something we can ask ourselves daily.  Have I offended someone today?  Do I need to make ammends?  Do I need to ask for forgiveness?  How can I be a better steward of the things God has given me?  For instance:  my time, my body, my resources, my education, my talents/skills, etc.  Are there things in my walk with God that need to change?  Am I growing or staying the same?  Am I on fire or is the fire growing dim?  Don’t be afraid to ask yourself the tough questions, especially if it means getting to the core issues.

“…lead me in the way of everlasting.”

I don’t know about you, but there is only one direction I want to be lead in and that is the one that leads me to eternity.  Do you wake up in the morning asking God to “lead you in the way of everlasting”?  Are you willing to give up some of the things in your life that might not be leading you there?  There is nothing in your life worth keeping if it leads you away from God.  There is only ONE direction to go in and that is the direction that leads you towards God.

Dear Father God, Please search me and know my heart, examine my anxious thoughts, and carry my burdens.  May I lean on You and trust that You will see me through my battles and my victories.  Lord, I pray that You will reveal the times to me when I offend someone and the times when I am not a good steward of the things You have given me.  Please lead me in the way of everlasting.
