Lavished on Me

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! (1 John 3:1)

What’s God doing in your life?

Yes, I know I skipped this question yesterday, but I did not forget about it.  In fact, I’ve been celebrating the love of God in my life.  Yes, I am very privileged to be loved by my husband and to share my life with him.  I’m blessed beyond measure to be loved by family and my friends.  But nothing comes close to being loved by God.  His love makes it possible for me to be loved by all these others.  In and of ourselves we do not have the capacity to love others.  We simply lack the ability to put up with people’s shortcomings day in and day out.  God’s love has withstood the test of time.  He can take the heat!  He can love us through every fall and every failure.  He can love us, even when we are unlovable.

I’m so blessed by that because I know that I can be unlovable at times.  I know that I have a bad attitude some days, I’m selfish other days, I tend to want my way sometimes, I think things that I shouldn’t, and the list goes on.  But God continues to pour out His love in abundance.  He continues to shape me and mold me into all that He desires me to be.  He doesn’t say, “He’ll love me when I’m good enough.”  He doesn’t say, “He’ll love me when I stop falling.”  He doesn’t say, “He’ll love me when I stop being selfish.”  He doesn’t put a price tag on His love.  He doesn’t make me work for it.  He simply loves me.  What an astounding thought!  God’s love has no measure!  His love is vast and He truly lavishes it upon us.  Wow, what a beautiful picture!  I can’t help but smile thinking about it.

Let’s look at some more verses of God’s great love in our lives!

When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O Lord, supported me.  (Psalm 94:18)

God’s love is there to catch me when I fall.  He is there to support me.  He is there to lift me up.  His love will always hold me steady.

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you. (Isaiah 54:10)

God’s love is unfailing.  This is so powerful.  Mountains and hills will give way, but God’s love will never fail!  He will stay true!  God will never turn His back on you!

“The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save.  He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”  (Zephaniah 3:17)

God will quiet your fears, your anxieties, your troubles, and everything you face with His love.  He will always be with you and take great delight in who you are, as you surrender your life to Him!

“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”  (Ephesians 3:18-19)

God’s love is measureless.  We can’t begin to fathom how big His love is for us.  We will never be able to comprehend how much God loves us.  His love will always be enough.

“This is how God showed his love among us:  He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.  This is love:  not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”  (1 John 4:9-10)

Dear Father God, Your love still amazes me!  I tend to get off track pretty often, but You are always there to put my feet back on the Solid Rock.  You have never failed me.  Your love has always lifted me up and helped me soar through every detail of life.  I’m so grateful that Your Son made it possible for me to experience what True Love is and how to express that daily.  Thank You for loving me and for never making me work for that love.  Thank You for just loving me the way that I am, just as I am, but loving me so much that You help me become something more through Your love!  Your love continues to help me grow!  I’m forever grateful!

    Amen sis it’s truly a blessing to have a spouse who loves you and you both Love the Lord. Not many people especially Christians these days love their spouses, like the bible says so. Count the blessings. I like how you always start by asking What God is doing in your life” get way to start the day.

      Yes, I definitely count my blessings!

      I enjoy starting the week with the question “What is God doing in your life?” I think it’s so important to reflect back and see how God has been faithful. We tend to forget how faithful God is and lose track of all He has done. I love to remember that God has been and always will be faithful!
