Jesus Gospels Truth Bible

It’s a Big World

Jesus said to him (Zacchaeus), “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” (Luke 19:9-10)

Read the rest of the story in Luke 19:1-10.

Do you ever feel small in this big world?  I can only imagine how Zacchaeus must have felt when trying to get a look at Jesus through the crowd.  He was so small compared to everyone around him.  He climbed the sycamore tree to get a good view of Jesus and Jesus responded in love.  In love, Jesus invited Himself to the tax collector’s home.  The crowd was shocked by this act towards a sinner, but Jesus continued in love.

In verse 10 we see Jesus came to save the lost.  This is amazing and nothing to be taken light of.  I was thinking about this the other day as I reflected on my first year in Florida.  This small town girl got lost a few times in this big ole city but my husband was there to guide me home.  I would simply call him and he would help me better understand where I was and how to get home.  He knows Tampa so much better than I do and has a great sense of direction.  No matter how lost I was, he always knew how to get me back on the right road home.

My connection with my husband through a cell phone is similar to the connection we have with God.  God is always available.  He is never busy, he doesn’t have call waiting, an answering machine, caller id, or low battery charge.  His signal is always available.  He is ready for your call.  Are you wondering what your next step should be?  Do you feel small in this big world, thinking that there are too many choices?  Or do you feel like you have run out of options?  Is your bank account at $0?

God knows your next step, let Him light your pathway.  He knows how to help you make the best possible decisions for your life.  He hasn’t run out of options for the wonderful plans He has for your life.  And He certainly hasn’t run out of ways to provide for you.  Open your eyes and see that you’re not lost, you are in the Father’s hands.  He will never let you go!

“If the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”  (Psalm 37:23-24)

Father God, I’m so grateful that even when I feel lost in this big world, You are there to guide me.  Your loving arms protect me and Your strong hands catch me when I fall.  It is a joy to be loved by You and to know that I am never alone. Thank You for being my constant in an ever changing world!

Resting in my Daddy’s loving arms,
