Mercy Life Identity Eternity Destiny

God’s Gift to Me

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:33-34)

Seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness, then things will happen accordingly.  All the time we seem to take our eyes off of God and put them on things of this world.  We take different directions and wonder why God isn’t there to lead us out.  In the meantime, if we choose to seek Him first and find out His direction for our lives… we will not end up in the wrong direction or down the dead end streets.

God does not want you to be concerned about yesterday or tomorrow.  His concern is how you will live out today.  Yesterday is gone and there is nothing you can do to get it back.  You have no idea what tomorrow holds, so don’t waste time worrying about it.  The only day you can do anything about is today.  What will you do to live it out for God?  How will you become a stronger Christian?  Will someone see Jesus in you?  Is there unfinished business you need to finish?  Below is an inspirational message about the challenge to live for today!

YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROW

There are two days in every week about which we should not worry.
Two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.

One of these days is yesterday with its mistakes and cares,
Its faults and blunders, Its aches and pains.
Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control.
All the money in the world cannot bring back yesterday.
We cannot undo a single act we performed.
We cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone.

The other day we should not worry about is tomorrow.
With its possible adversities, Its burdens,
Its large promise and poor performance.
Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control.
Tomorrow’s Sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds,
but it will rise.
Until it does, we have no stake in tomorrow, for it is yet unborn.
This just leaves only one day . . . Today.
Any person can fight the battles of just one day.
It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternity’s –
yesterday and tomorrow that we break down.
It is not the experience of today that drives people mad.
It is the remorse or bitterness for something which happened yesterday
and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.

Let us therefore live but one day at a time.

My challenge to you is to stop living in your yesterdays.  Stop looking into all your tomorrows.  It’s time to live for today.  God has given you a new sunrise this morning with brilliant colors and a fresh breath to take in Him.  You have a clean slate today.  What will you do to paint a beautiful picture in your life for the Lord today?

Dear Father God, I think it becomes way too easy to get lost in yesterday’s mistakes and all too familiar to look forward to what tomorrow may bring.  I choose to live for today.  I want my life to make a difference for You today!  Help me to live daily in Your presence and daily according to Your Word.  Thank You for one more day!

This post is almost 2 years ago but thank you very much for sharing this. You have no idea how this helped me. Been listening to Jonathan Urie and the topic is “Forgiven and Free” It’s like God’s been talking to me through the music I’ve been listening to and your post. I was praying this morning saying sorry to God co’z up until now I’m still bitter over my past, and thru this post and the songs I’ve been hearing when I started my day, all messages were about forgetting my past… and this message was stuck in my head “In Christ, your past no longer has a claim upon you. Jesus won’t hold the past over you but washes it away.”

Thank you again. God bless you 🙂

Thank you so much for sharing this with me. It put a huge smile on my face to know that God was able to use this post to minister to you. Your words have come at great timing for me and truly ministered to some of the things God is teaching me. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to further encourage you!

    Hi Sarah,

I’m just new in this journey. Although I was raised up in a Christian family and grew up attending church and Sunday school, I lost my way and now I’m back. So I consider myself new again in this journey and praying real hard that this time, I won’t look back, I won’t falter and just keep on continuing with my journey on the right direction… my walk with Him.

You know my email ad, hope we could chat some time. Especially when I need a Christian friend to talk to. Although I have a spiritual leader, I want to have more Christian friends if you don’t mind.

    Thank you! 🙂

Praise God for this new journey you get to take! Daily life with Jesus in your heart is quite an adventure! I will be praying you enjoy the ride and see the beauty of all that God wants to do in your life. I pray strength for you, peace, God’s guidance, and an understanding of His abundant love for you!

“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 3:12-14

You know what’s surprising? It’s the same bible verse I memorized last night before I went to sleep! Philippians 3:14 🙂
