Every Step Counts

If the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand. (Psalm 37:23-2)

This is where I want to start my year.  Right here in this verse.  I want to take steps towards the Lord.  I want to find myself moving to the beat of God’s drum.  I have read this verse many times before and every single time it convicts me way down deep inside.  Sure it would be nice to focus on the latter end of the verse… The place where when I stumble, God will be there to hold me tight.  But that’s not how the verse begins!  The verse begins with me and my responsibilities.  The opportunity to align myself with God and I don’t want to miss it.  I want to take the journey of a lifetime with God.  Do you want to go with me this year?  Do you want to take an eternal adventure through the Word of God?

Do you want to dig deep into the things of God?  Do you want to learn what it means to be a true disciple of Christ?  Do you want to learn how to apply the Word of God to your life?  Well, if you do, stay tuned.  There is lots to come in the devotionals this year.  God has really been doing a work in me over these last few months to prepare me for some devotional series that I look forward to bringing your way.  There will be some new challenges and opportunities for us to journey together in this year.
Some challenges that I want to bring your way are:

1. An opportunity to memorize Scripture with me. I will post a new verse every week and it will be something we can memorize together.  Learn the meaning of it for your life and apply it.  Watch what God can do when you start covering yourself with the Truth in His Word.  It’s the only way to conquer the lies and deceit that constantly nag at us.  I promise it will be an incredible experience and I don’t want to see you miss out on it.  I would enjoy hearing how God is using this in your life, so please stop in and post from time to time.  The first verse will be the one that I gave you today.  Psalm 37:23-24, “If the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”
2. An opportunity to follow along in the Word. I will do my best to offer the passage that I will write on for the coming day.  This will give you an opportunity to learn with me and share in the amazing wonders of the Word.  I pray as you read that God will give you new understanding and fresh insight from His love letter.  I look forward to hearing what God teaches you.
3. Learning what God is doing! Back in college, I was known for one question…  “What is God doing in your life?”  Well, a friend of mine reminded me of this question just a few days ago.  I would love to explore this with you.  I want to take Mondays to share with you what God is teaching me and hopefully find out what God is teaching you.  Let’s reflect weekly on God’s goodness, His faithfulness, His kindness, His mercies, and His love.  Please feel free to stop by and let me know what God has been doing in your life.  It’s a tough question at first, but once you start looking… you will see God is busy at work in your life!

As you can see, 2011 is going to be an exciting year.  I look forward to the journey with you!  May God continue to watch over you and guide you as you walk according to His ways!
