Trust God Jesus

Daddy, Daddy

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4)

This week, I want to share something near and dear to my heart with you. I want to share some chapters from my book Life’s Compass for Eternal Treasure. The second edition of this book was released on June 24th this year, but due to the craziness of life I have not been able to share it with you. This new edition includes a great study guide that you can use as an individual or with a group. To celebrate the new release of this book, I will be doing a BOGO sale. If you can show me proof of purchase for one book, I will send you one for a friend. There are a few ways you can purchase books. The easiest way to get the BOGO sale is to purchase straight from my personal bookstore. If you would rather purchase from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or any other online bookstore that is fine too. Please just send me an email with proof of purchase and your address and I will be happy to send you a book for a friend.

Today, let’s take a look at chapter 7, “Daddy, Daddy”…

…The next part of Psalm 37 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). Boy, doesn’t this sound simple? Can it possibly be that easy to receive the desires of our hearts? Well, I think we can receive the desires of our hearts when we first align ourselves with God’s Word and do what He requires from us. The first thing we need to do is trust Him with every detail of our life … not just the major details, but the minor ones also. We must let Him be Lord over every decision. This naturally leads us into a place where we desire to simply delight ourselves in Him.

I remember when I was just starting a new job. My boss was teaching me some things on the computer when his wife and two daughters came into the office. They were out in the hallway, and we were in one of the side rooms. I remember that before they came, his focus was completely on teaching me the task at hand, but that all changed when his little girls showed up. His one little girl kept saying, “Daddy, Daddy.” She was trying desperately to get his attention from quite a distance away, and she definitely had achieved her goal.

He could no longer focus on the task at hand. All he could do was think about that little voice that kept calling out his name. He said, “I’m so sorry, I just can’t concentrate. The sound of her voice makes me happy.” He grinned from ear to ear and let her know that she could come in and sit on his lap. From that time on, he was more focused and was able to finish teaching me what I needed to know on the program.

After he left, I remember crying and thanking God for showing me something so special in that moment. Not only does the sound of that little girl’s voice shake her daddy’s attention, but the sound of my voice brings a smile to my Heavenly Father’s face, too. God showed me in that moment how much He loves it when I call His name. He is delighted by the times I simply say, “Daddy, I need You. I love You. Can You be there for me? Can I sit on Your knee?”…

Dear Father God, I continue to give You my desires and pray that each one will come in Your timing.  I delight myself in You and proudly call You my Daddy.  The One who never fails me and gently calls me forward.  Thank You for loving me and drawing me ever to Yourself.

Delighting Myself in God,
