Scripture Bible Truth Jesus

Crown of Life

Okay, today as you read James 1… find that passage that really stands out to you.  A passage that applies to your life.  Find just the right one and take time to commit it to memory.

Here are some ideas, if you need them…

1.  If you need strength, memorize James 1:2-4.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete not lacking anything.”

2.  If you need wisdom, memorize James 1:5-6.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault and it will be given to him.  But when he asks, he must not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”

3.  If you need to be reminded of God’s faithfulness, memorize James 1:17.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

4.  If you have trouble listening or trouble with anger, memorize James 1:19-20.

“My dear brothers, take note of this:  Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.”

5.  If you are working on discipline, memorize James 1:22.

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says.”

6.  If you’re tongue is getting you in trouble, memorize James 1:26.

“If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.”

That should get you started for right now!  Let me know what you choose to memorize.  I would be delighted to hear how God is using His Word in your life.

Ways to memorize Scripture…

    Sarah,
James 1:19&20 are verses that are always good for me to remember.
So ofen anger is my immediate response to a situation and it should be my last resort, if not at all. Thank you for the encouragement to “hide God’s Word in my heart”.
    Love you,
    Kathie
