Entering the Battleground with God’s Strength

When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”

“But sir,” Gideon replied, “if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us?  Where are his wonders that our fathers told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian.”

The Lord turned to him and said, “GO in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand.  Am I not sending you?”

‘But Lord,” Gideon asked, “how can I save Israel?  My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”

The Lord answered, “I will be with you…” (Judges 6:12-16)

A Real Shot of Espresso

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! (1 John 3:1)

Who needs espresso when you have the love of God pouring into your life every day?  Every day I have my 2 cups of coffee in the morning.  I know some people can’t bare to go anywhere until they have had their coffee.  Some people need their energy drink. Last night I was reminded that True energy doesn’t come in a can, it can’t be bottled, or brewed in a pot.  True energy comes from God.  He is the One who wakes us up every morning with fresh air to breathe, a reason to live, and hope to survive on. Because I Said So

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

I say to myself, ‘The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.’ The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.” (Lamentations 3:22-26)

Pursuit for the Truth ~ Psalm 119 Part 6

Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions. I have chosen to be faithful; I have determined to live by your regulations. I cling to your laws.  Lord, don’t let me be put to shame! I will pursue your commands, for you expand my understanding. (Psalm 119:29-32, NLT)

Yesterday we learned we are revived by God’s Word, we are to use it as a means to reflect on how we conduct our day, God’s Word teaches us about His character, and it will always be there to strengthen us.  Let’s continue into the next phase of Psalm 119.

INSTRUCTION ~ “Keep me from lying to myself…”

The Lord asks us to live by the Truth of His Word every day.  May we not compromise even in the smallest form, but may way see it as a privilege to know His Word.  His Word provides the instruction on life and when we follow it we can live life to the fullest.  May we ask God to reveal even the slightest lie that we may be hiding behind, so that we can be fully revealed in God’s Truth.  The Truth will set us free and there’s nothing better than living in the freedom of God.

Power in the Word ~ Psalm 119 Part 5

I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word. I recounted my ways and you answered me; teach me your decrees. Let me understand the teaching of your precepts; then I will meditate on your wonders. My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word. (Psalm 119:25-28)
The passage in today’s devotional reflects back on some of the things we have talked about, so we will walk through the passage step by step.

vs. 25 “…preserve my life according to your word.”

What are we in life, if we do not have the Word to guide us?  Where will we go with our questions?  Who will bear our burdens? Without the Word we do not even know where our lives began, where they are going, or where they will end.  Our souls are but dust on this earth without the breath of God breathing life into us.  With Him and His Word we truly have meaning and purpose. The New Living Translation says “…revive me by your word.”  The next time you sit down to read God’s Word look at it as the Bread of Life that feeds your soul.  Eat it as if it’s the only thing keeping you alive because honestly without it, you can’t live.  God is the One who breathes true life into you.  He will revive your soul during those times you think you can’t go another moment in time, He will give you strength for the next step you need to take, and He will be everything you could possibly need on this earth. Beyond that, He is preparing a home for you in glory!
