Bad News Tate Publishing Author Trust God

When Bad News Hits

So I sent messengers to them saying, ‘I am doing a great work and cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave to come down to [meet with] you?’ (Nehemiah 6:3)

I love how God works. A few days ago, God laid it on my heart to start reading Nehemiah. It really ministered to me as I was reading it. I felt that the Lord was calling me to stand on the wall like Nehemiah but I didn’t fully understand why. Little did I know that He was preparing my heart for some bad news to come.

A few days later,  I was hit with the news that my publisher closed down. This was some tough news to swallow as I had a book that was supposed to be released this month and another one about ready to go into production. They left me with a huge mess. As I continue to learn about them, I’m finding out some not so great things. I had a 10+ year relationship with Tate Publishing. It wasn’t always bad! There were some great years with them and I’m thankful for the 7 books I was able to publish with them. I’m thankful that through my relationship with them I gained the confidence I needed to pursue new publishers. And thankfully because of God’s guidance to Nehemiah I was ready to stand on the wall of what God has for me next.

Yes, seven days ago this news rocked my world. But today, I’m standing on God’s promises. God is faithful! In that I will continue to stand. His faithfulness is the one thing I can depend on for the rest of my life. People are fickle. Businesses compromise. Christians fail too. But God, God is on the throne. He’s not changing. He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He will never leave or forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:6).

What news has rocked your world lately? I encourage you to dig deep into God’s Word. Find His promises waiting for you there and cling to each one. God will be faithful in your situation! If you need a little encouragement for the journey, please consider buying my devotional Clinging to God’s Promises.

Dear Father God, I’m so thankful for these times where my faith muscles are stretched. Lord, You are faithful. There is absolutely nothing in my life that takes You by surprise! Please help me to rise above the noise of this current storm and see things from Your perspective as I cling to Your promises with all my might!

Clinging to God’s Promises,
