A Forgiving Heart
And when you stand praying, if you hold ANYTHING against ANYONE, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. (Mark 11:25)
Lord, I come humbly before You asking You to search my heart. Please show me where I have been unforgiving towards others. Please show me where I have been holding a hurt and where resentment has built up in my heart.
Lord, I don’t want any unforgiveness in my life. I don’t want anything in my life that would keep me from fully serving You. Lord, I know that an unforgiving spirit can keep me from fully experiencing Your work in my life, so please help me to recognize when my heart is holding resentment. Please help me to live in forgiveness towards others knowing how much I have been forgiven because of the cross.
May resentment, bitterness, hatred, unforgiveness, and criticalness be banned from my life. Lord, help me to recognize when my heart is not fully surrendered to You and when I have placed my emotions above Your goodness.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” ~Psalm 139:23-24
Read more of this in Mark 11:20-25.
